Guidelines For Back Pain

Currently there is no complete cure to administer to a person who experiences back pain; for most people, their only concern is to receive back pain relief medication to dull the pain. The problem with pain relief medication is that it doesn’t help the cause of the problem, just merely makes it a little more bearable. As far as the sufferer is concerned, this medication should only be taken whilst under supervision by a medical expert.

The problem with the back is although it is strong, at the same time it is easily damaged; once spinal injury has occurred it can be a permanent condition. However, back pain is usually caused by a lifting accident or from lifting incorrectly and it is normally the lower back that suffers. Many people are now turning to other methods of gaining back pain relief which do not include the use of drugs.

Stretching can be effective at reducing back as it relaxes the muscles which are often tense. Success at reducing pain and providing relief has also been found by people using reflexology to the feet; it is a very old natural therapy which helps to relieve many chronic ailments in addition to back pain. In addition to this, reflexology can also help to improve the blood circulation which in turn provides relief to aching and tired muscles.

Although acupuncture is an age old Chinese medical practice that has been used for thousands of years, it is only recently that the Western world has accepted it as an alternative form of back pain relief. Followers of traditional Chinese medicine are of the belief that every person has an inner energy force (chi) that reflects of our state of health, mental and physical. Acupuncture needles help to release trapped or sick energy (chi) when inserted at particular points in the body. There are large numbers of people that use acupuncture on a regular basis and claim it works well for them providing pain relief; especially those who have what is termed a chronic condition.

A slower and gentler type of Yoga called Tai Chi, once again from China, is another method of back pain control. It focuses on breath control and is very relaxing owing to its gentle nature. It is possible for anyone to participate irrespective of age. Natural back pain relief should really start with more frequent exercise; this not only conditions the back but is an excellent preventative measure.
